Vintage R.L. Liebmann Brass Eagle Plaque Insignia Shield 8" Americana Militaria

RL hallmark stamped inside the rectangular cartouche on the back of the wing identifies this piece as a vintage item manufactured by the R.L. Liebmann Manufacturing Company (or R.L. Mfg. Co.) of Newark, New Jersey.  The company operated during the late 19th and early 20th centuries (most notably around the  WWI era), specializing in military brass accoutrements, uniform buttons, and stamped or cast metal insignia.  • Type: This is an ornamental cast or heavy-stamped brass eagle plaque/insignia. Given the 8-inch length and the specific placement of the two small mounting holes on the outer edges of the wings, it was intended as a rigid architectural/furniture mount, a decorative wall plaque, or a front piece for a large historical ceremonial piece (such as a vintage firefighter's high-eagle helmet front or a milita presentation box).
